Hey ladies! Today we are talking about shapewear, so grab that pint of ice cream and let’s get down to business.

I was first introduced to shapewear as a spry, young 19-year-old intern at Nordstrom. I had only a brief layover in the lingerie department, but it was still enough time for me to learn the magical properties of the shapewear category. I’ll never forget how much better I looked in my black capri pants with all that smoothing, cinching and toning going on. The only problem was that even with my employee discount, it was still pretty spendy. I only bought one piece of shapewear that summer and, while I was indeed happy to have it, I quickly realized that a single piece doesn’t work with everything in your wardrobe.

Fast forward to 2017 and there are soooo many more options out there. I recently decided to add a few shapewear pieces to my wardrobe, which help with a variety of clothing woes. I figure – if I have them on hand, I’ll be more likely to wear that bodycon dress or those fitted pants, etc.

Earlier this year I tried out a few Maidenform strapless bras (which I love), so I was excited to see how their shapewear treated me. They have a ton of choices AND I love that they won’t break the bank. You guys, the quality is really great and I was super impressed, especially considering the price.

Here are a few of the pieces that I’m trying out:

Waist Nipper {Ultra Firm} $15.94 This one is like a corset but is much more flexible. It will be used sparingly, but I’m so glad I have it for those fitted dresses with a zipper… you know the ones – the kind you need a pit crew to help get you zipped up.

Hi-Waist Boy Short {Firm} $12.94 I’ll probably use this one most because it helps smooth out the bun area… and to be honest, I can use all the help I can get in that region. ‘Shapes and smoothes’ so it claims, and I’m on board for both!

Waist Cincher {Firm} $15.94 This piece would have really come in handy postpartum, but it is also a great basic for anyone to have in their bag of tricks. It is seamless, therefore a smooth look underneath clothing. It has a rubber grip at the top to keep it from slipping down.

High Waist Brief {Ultra Firm} $8.94 Another great basic to have that smooths the tummy area. It also has the handy rubber grips to minimize slipping. Don’t overlook the price: under $10 y’all… which is amazing!

So ladies, why not head to Walmart and try out a couple Maidenform shapewear pieces? I know there are surely a few neglected items in your closet that would fit and look better with one of these gems underneath. What do you have to lose? (answer: love handles!)

Check them out and let us know what you think!
