Hello there! You might remember that this past January, Amanda and I got the wonderful opportunity to tour the Costa Farms headquarters and greenhouses in Miami, FL. We fell in love with the people and their plants! With Mother’s Day coming up this Sunday, May 8th, we joined forces with Costa Farms to share a few ideas of how you can make the mommas in your life feel loved! (Pssst- Feel free to buy a plant for anyone at anytime! It’s sure to cheer them up, make their day, or let them know you appreciate them.)
What is your go-to Mother’s Day gift? Do you have one? Mine has always been plants. Maybe I’m just lucky to know that my mom, mother-in-law, and my husband’s grandma will always appreciate a beautiful new plant. Personally, plants are one of my favorite gifts!
If you’re the last-minute type, run into Walmart, grab one of these beautiful, already-giftwrapped Anthuriums for $12.96. Swing by the card isle and BAM! you’re done!
If you have a little time on your hands, shop around for some pots, planters, or baskets that fit in with the decor of the person you’re buying for. Then, pop into Walmart and grab the prettiest Costa Farms plants you see to set down in the pots. I love that you can add a little more personality without a ton of time spent. These hanging baskets are from Ikea. (Find similar ones here.) The real beauty lies in those lovely pink-edged leaves on these Costa Farms Red Aglaonemas. They are only $10 each! When choosing the plants, try to take into consideration how much light the plant requires and find a good fit for how much natural light the recipient has in her or his home.
You can also find the Desert Gems cacti collection, by Costa Farms, in Walmart stores. These are so fun! Coming in a variety of vibrant colors, they are the cheeriest little fellas. They are $7 each. This particular cactus doesn’t appear to be prickly. (I didn’t actually touch it to find out.) It comes in a sleek, modern pot. Major heart-eyes. We’re suckers for clean lines and smooth white! FYI, these are colored. New growth will be the natural white color. Also, be very gentle with these buddies. Their arms are fragile.
