Hey Ladies! Have you ever thought, “I wish there were a way for me to be in control of the Internet”? Well, I’m about to make your day with the following: you CAN be in control of the Internet where it matters most – in your own home. Enter Circle with Disney. You guys, it’s a small cube with a super easy app that acts as an all-seeing Internet eye. Circle offers Internet time limits, content filters, rewards, pause features, scheduled ‘off’ time, insights (i.e. a log of sites visited and duration of time spent, which can only be deleted by you) and other cool features. Read more about each component over on their website.

We have young children and have started using Circle with Disney, but I especially see the benefit for families with pre-teens and beyond.

I recently took my kids and my laptop to a friend’s house to get some work done and to give the kids a change of scenery. While asking about her wifi password, she launched into how they have some sort of awesome Internet filter (Circle with Disney) and opened up an app to allow me access. Just like that, my phone and computer went from kid access to grown up access. She has pre-teens and it was fascinating for me to hear how she and her husband use their Circle to guard their children from inappropriate content. Her favorite part is that ANY/EVERY device with wifi that enters her home is monitored by their Circle. The device has five filtration levels, and her guest wifi is set to “kid” level. When her children have sleepovers, she doesn’t have to worry about questionable content popping up on anyone’s devices. And if she feels like they have been online too long, she can just pause the Internet. You heard me… PAUSE the Internet. Brilliant.

Another major bonus is that Circle can differently manage multiple devices. For instance, I have mine and my husband’s computers set to the adult level (filtering explicit content) and our iPad – mainly used by our kids – set to the pre-K level (filtering content inappropriate for children under age 5).

I have read some heartbreaking statistics about the ages at which children are being exposed to explicit content online (i.e. violent images and pornography) and I am truly grateful there is a product out there that can help parents protect their children, and help children protect themselves. I highly recommend giving Circle with Disney a closer look. The way I see it – having one of these in your home (or your parents’, or aunt’s, or wherever your children may spend time) is all pros and no cons.
