I come from a long line of flower ladies (and one gentleman). My grandparents used to own a nursery and one of my favorite things as a kid was roaming the aisles of their greenhouses. While the love of flowers was naturally passed down, I wouldn’t say the knack for growing and caring for them was exactly inherited. I’m a work in progress! Lucky for me, my sweet momma was in town to give me some pointers on planting.

I have wanted to grow flowers FOR YEARS. I actually used to be a floral designer but never got around to growing my own, until now!

I already have a little raised garden bed that my husband and I have dubbed our test garden. Over the last couple of years, we have tried our hand at different things but never flower bulbs.

What is especially fun about this project is that it is affordable and a great family friendly activity. Plus, there are many teachable moments in gardening.

There are tons of beautiful bulb options but I’m most excited by the Daffodils and the Allium.

Feeling a little overwhelmed? Don’t be! The packaging on these Van Zyverden bulbs gives you all the info you need like instructions on how to plant, what varieties they are, when to plant, when they bloom, if they are deer and critter resistant, etc.!
